There are seven villages in the township, in the west there are the villages of Niaosong, Mengli and Dahua, since they are closer to the city, therefore they present a more urban social structure and lifestyle. Especially Dahua Village, out of the population of roughly 10,000, majority are from other parts of Taiwan and enjoy a higher living standard. The four villages of Dibu, Renmei, Huamei and Dajhu in the east are called the four eastern villages; they enjoy a more agricultural social structure, lifestyle and landscape, this is also where most of the industries in the township is concentrated. The industries in the township include: pineapple, litchi and crop. In addition, there is also the Dajhu Rice Noodle Factory. The renowned Hsinchu rice noodle originated from Dajhu Village, hence this is also the home of Hsinchu rice noodle. |
